Description
Viking-period belt mount with ring from Chernigov.
Here you can buy a detailed replica of a belt mount from the Viking Age with a ring eyelet, based on a find from Chernigov in Ukraine.
Belt fittings were very common in the Viking Age and are often found in Viking Age finds. Especially among the eastern Vikings in Sweden, Gotland and Russia, very richly studded belt fittings are often found as grave goods.
Some of these belt mounts were also equipped with ring loops to which personal items of daily use such as knives, fire paddles, sharpening stones, etc. could be attached, or a secondary strap with more eternal fittings could be attached, as was also the custom among the eastern equestrian peoples.
The dimensions of the belt mount without ring are 2.5 x 2.2 cm.
The ring itself has a diameter of 1.5 cm.
The Viking belt mount is available in bronze and real silver-plated.
Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the Viking Age belt fitting. To attach the decorative rivets, simply pass them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.
