If you’re reading this, it means you share our passion for leather crafting. So let me tell you a story – a story about the Halfdan, our newest body armour, handcrafted with love and inspired by the legendary Viking leader Magnus the Good.
Magnus was more than just a name; born out of wedlock he would fless his lands with his mother only to return and be crowned king of Norway and later Denmark. And in our studios, we’ve poured every ounce of that spirit into creating an armour worthy of his legacy.
Here’s why I’m so excited about the Magnus – it’s not just “for show.” You see, at Black Raven Armoury, we believe in crafting armours that not only look stunning but also serve their purpose. Layered leathers, a fitted, articulated shape that hugs your body, dulling the blows from combat – this is what makes the Magnus so special. It gives you that thrilling sense of combat readiness, making you feel like a true warrior.
Designed as a long body armour, the Magnus accommodates chest sizes ranging from 40 to 48 inches & 48 to 56 inches. It’s one of the most combat-practical designs to come out of our studios, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Every detail of the Magnus tells a story. Hand-cut, hand-embossed, stitched, riveted, dyed, antiqued – each process is a testament to our commitment to quality. The embossed panelling, detailed edge embossing, and extensive edge binding to all potentially vulnerable areas make this armour one of our toughest yet.
LARP Armours : All of our LARP Armours are a minimum of 3.2 to mm - 1/8 to 9/64 Inch - 8 to 10 oz Thickness, this is perfect for LARP and Cosplay events where any "combat" that occurs is non lethal and typically involves rubber covered foam weapons with plastic, or fiberglass cores. SCA Armours : All of our SCA armours are laminated to a minimum 6.5 mm- 1/4 Inch - 16 oz Thickness, many also have a degree of water hardening, this combination of hardened laminated leather is ideally suited to SCA and HEMA combatPlease be aware that all of the Armours Black Raven produces are hand made and finished to order, so please allow sufficient time ahead of your event when ordering.
