Description
Viking strap end fitting with knotwork.
Strap end fitting in the Ringerike style after the find of a Viking buckle from the island of Gotland, dating to the 11th century.
Strap ends were found quite often in Viking Age finds and were very common in Scandinavia and England, as well as in Russia.
The filigree Viking strap end fitting is suitable as a belt point for 2 cm wide straps.
But this fitting is also very well suited as a circumferential decorative rivet for a 2.5 - 3 cm wide belt strap.
Dimensions 1.8 x 2.5 cm.
The Viking belt end fitting is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in genuine silver-plated.
Fastening: As evidenced by historical examples, the fitting has three pins 8 mm long on the back.
These are best bent slightly at the tip with round-nosed pliers and then simply tapped flat with a hammer.
