Description
Viking belt connector from Gotland in a set.
This detailed replica of a three-piece belt connector from the Viking Age is based on a model from the island of Gotland in Sweden and dates to the 11th century.
The Viking Age belt connector set consists of three parts made of high quality decorative bronze.
The single belt connector has the dimensions: 3.5 x 1.8 cm. The ring has a diameter of 2 cm.
The belt connector is suitable for belts with a thickness of 3 - 4 mm and a width of 2 - 3 cm. 6 double-headed rivets for fastening are included.
Belt connectors were quite common in the Viking Age and can be found in Birka and on Gotland as well as in Russia and other Viking settlements.
In the Viking Age, strap connectors were used to join shorter straps together and worn as a belt, whereby a knife or a pouch, for example, could be attached to the connector ring. The individual straps of a sword hanger or the suspension for the sax could be distributed in this way.
